The Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created as a promise to our communities and first responders to continue in the work Tyler left behind, a promise we refuse to go unfulfilled.

Mission

Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created in memoriam of Officer Tyler Timmins who was killed in the line of duty on October 26th, 2021. Tyler dedicated his life to service both through police work as well as involving himself in several community outreach programs. Some of the main focal points in our organization are to develop and contribute to scholarships for first responder programs at local community colleges and universities, support community outreach programs and develop new programs of our own. Additionally, our goal is to provide financial and emotional support to first responder families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty in the state of Illinois. We honor Officer Timmins best, by continuing his calling and helping others.

Officer Tyler Timmins

End of Watch :: October 26th, 2021

Tyler Nathaniel Timmins was a dedicated, 36-year-old police officer serving with the Pontoon Beach Police Department when he was shot and killed in the line of duty.  On October 26, 2021, at approximately 8:30am, Tyler responded to a local gas station where a suspected stolen vehicle was parked. Tyler exited his vehicle and was ambushed within seconds by the suspect, a repeat felonious perpetrator who fired from his unlawfully possessed firearm.

Tyler was a pillar for the communities in which he served and was a highly respected officer in the area. Tyler started his 14-year law enforcement career as a Cadet with the Wood River Police Department, and served as an officer in Roxana, Worden (Chief of Police), Hartford, and Pontoon Beach. Through his 14 years, Tyler was a certified Crisis Intervention Officer, Range Instructor, DARE Officer, and a member of ILEAS SWAT; to name a few. Tyler loved his community and was regularly involved in programs such as Shop with a Cop, Patches and Badges, and Mustache March 4PD; anything to bring together the community with first responders, or the betterment of others.

Above all things, Tyler enjoyed life and all that came with it. If you knew Tyler, you never saw him without a smile on his face so big it would close his eyes, a bounce in his step when he walked, or a quick one liner reserved to the first deserving person. He never took anything too seriously and was always able to see the good in any situation. Tyler met his wife, Linsey, in the summer of 2016 and they were married on September 11, 2021. Together they shared a life with their daughter Chloe and their two fur babies, Scooter and Wrigley. In his free time, Tyler was active in the Police Softball circuit, he enjoyed bowling,  and was a dedicated sideline coach/cheerleader at his daughter’s soccer games. Tyler had a servant’s heart of gold, accompanied with humor and humility.  He was more than a Police Officer. He was a cherished husband and father, a beloved son and brother,  a respected teammate and leader, and a fiercely loyal friend.

The Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created as a promise to our communities and first responders to continue in the work Tyler left behind, a promise we refuse to go unfulfilled.

LEARN MORE ABOUT LINSEY...
“I am connected to the foundation through my sweet husband, Tyler Timmins. Tyler and I met on July 13, 2016, and spent the next five years building our life together with our daughter, Chloe (11 y/o) and our two boys, Scooter and Wrigley. On September 11, 2021, we were married, and I officially became a Timmins!
I am a former Police Officer with the SIU-Edwardsville Police Department where I served for 4 years. I loved everything about being a Police Officer, and I credit the officer I was, to Tyler. He taught me everything I know.  These days, Chloe keeps me super busy with her sports (soccer and wrestling) and I have time to focus on growing our foundation. I’m honored to keep my husband’s memory alive by continuing to make a difference in the lives of others, as Tyler did so many times throughout his life, both on the job and off. “
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...

“I have a million memories with Tyler, but hands down my favorite memory with him was our wedding day. Absolutely nothing went wrong, it was perfect in every way possible. Specifically, sitting there with him at the head table, listening to Chloe’s speech for us. I had always known the bond those two shared was something special, but in that moment, it was solidified. As we watched the young woman we were raising, deliver such an amazing speech that was mature beyond her years, he kept hold of my hand and squeezed it tightly when he began to get choked up. Every moment of our lives with Tyler were special, every single one, and he made sure Chloe and I both knew daily how important we were to him and how much he loved us.”

Jake is one of four Board Members for the TTMF Team. Get to know Jake a bit more… “I am connected to the foundation through my older brother Tyler, and I am so proud to serve on the board for the Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation. I’ve been married to the love of my life, Sabrina, for the past 5 years and we live in Fairview, Texas…just north of Dallas. We have two beautiful daughters, Lennon (3y/o) and Everly (2y/o) and we also have a little pup we adore named Gracie. I am an Executive Vice President at RT Specialty where I run a team that insurers hard to place commercial property risks. I am hopeful the foundation will be able to help out all first responders in the area and eventually all of Illinois and Missouri. I am most excited to carry on and support the programs and missions that were important to Tyler. By doing these things in his name is the best way to keep his memory alive.”
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...

“One of the most unique memories of Tyler was back when he was in high school, and I was in middle school. We both worked for the Wood River Parks and Recreation diamond crew, prepping the baseball and softball diamonds for play each day. On our lunch breaks, we often went to the Wood River Pool when it was hot. One time, we were going down the water slides and Tyler and a buddy went down in tandem, arms locked so they could push each other higher on the turns to gain more speed. One turn they were going too fast, and Tyler went up and over the slide. The other guy with him did not let go of his arm and Tyler dangled over the slide for a little while until they got to a spot where he could drop safely. He had fiberglass burns all up and down his arm and armpit area. While this certainly could have been much worse, we often laughed about this and how mad Mom and Dad were when they found out! It always reminds me of how fun and how much of a kid Tyler really was.”

“I am connected to the foundation due to Tyler being one of my best friends. Tyler and I met years ago when I started my internship with Roxana Police Department. We spent many nights riding around in his patrol vehicle harassing each other all the while he was teaching me things about law enforcement. I knew then I would have a lifelong friendship with Tyler due to how much fun and easy going he was. Throughout the years Tyler and I would check in and see how one another was doing. Finally in 2018, I had the privilege of working alongside Tyler. Tyler was working with Hartford Police Department and I was working at South Roxana Police Department. I could write a book about what a good time it was to work with Tyler. We had quite the crew for our working days. Lee Bazzell was working in Roxana and was on our shift rotation too. I knew when they both arrived at one of my calls I was going to have my hands full just because they loved escalating my calls and then would stand back and laugh while I would calm everything back down. Tyler and I came up with the big plan of going to bigger departments for more opportunities. We both succeeded when he went to Pontoon Beach Police Department, and I went to O’Fallon Police Department. We both enjoyed our fast cars and often took advantage of the nice days to cruise to Quiznos in Edwardsville. Our past could go on and on. I’ll be forever grateful for my friendship with Tyler.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Kristen for 10 years and we have a wonderful daughter named Saylor. I am currently an Officer with O’Fallon Police Department.
My hope and goal for the foundation is to continue its growth year after year. The foundation wants to be able to help families with financial need and be a source of emotional support for families in need. I want the foundation to be able to be involved in local events, fundraisers and scholarships. Tyler loved local events such as the Cops and Kids presented by Patches and Badges, and I want to keep being involved in his honor.”

FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...

“The memories and stories could go on for quite some time! My favorite memory would be more recent and involves his wedding day. I decided to contact my mom and asked her if I could borrow her wedding dress to give Tyler a good laugh during his first look. I wasn’t sure how it would go, but today I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I’ve made! It was worth every hard time everyone has given me. Haha! To see Tyler’s big grin and hear his response, followed up by a big hug made it worth it. I’ll forever hold that moment close to my heart because that was our friendship, goofy and always keeping each other on our toes.”

“I am connected to the foundation through my cousin Tyler. Tyler was about 8 months younger than me, and we were close growing up together. As adults we played in countless softball leagues together and a dart league for several years as well.
Tyler started his law enforcement career about 8 months after I did as well. We spent a lot of time during his years with the Hartford and Roxanna Police Departments, including our late night/early morning breakfasts at IHOP and backing each other up on calls for service.
I have been married to my wife, Jeni, for 40 or 50 years, I guess?  We have two sons, Owen and Elliott, and our lives (this time of year especially) pretty much revolves around their sports schedules, and we love every second of it.
I have been an officer with the Woodriver Police Department for 16+ years and currently serve as a patrol sergeant. Against my wife’s better judgement, I recently opened a food truck with my friend Neil McHatton. Operating Mericue has been a lot of fun so far and we’re looking forward to the opportunities that it’ll bring.
I don’t really know what hopes I have for this foundation yet. I just hope we get to do some fun and silly stuff along the way, because that is what Tyler would’ve expected. “

FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“I don’t know if I have a specific favorite memory of Tyler, but we always had so much fun on our game nights and really anytime we got together. If I had to pick just one memory, it would probably be winning the PB&PA state softball tournament. We had a great group of guys and the whole tournament was a lot of fun!”

“I am connected to the foundation through my best friend, Linsey. Linsey and I began working in Law Enforcement at the SIUE Police Department in January 2018. It is through that employment that Linsey and I became best friends. I met Tyler at the same time that I met Linsey. Tyler and I also became great friends. I am an extremely family oriented person. Most of my family lives near the Chicago area. Myself and my twin brother, Kendall, regularly visit Chicago to spend time with family. I have been in Law Enforcement for almost 5 years and am a Detective for the SIUE Police Department. My hope for the foundation is to continue to honor and keep the legacy of my friend, Tyler, alive and well. I hope we can continue to extend our services and scholarship to give back and support other families in Tyler’s name.”
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“My favorite memory of Tyler is the Summer of 2019; Linsey and I were off work and on the opposite rotation of Tyler. Linsey and I decided to go meet some friends and well, Linsey may have had a few too many spirited beverages. As we were leaving Linsey was on the phone with Tyler, speaking in a language I didn’t understand (possibly gibberish). Tyler, who is on speaker at this point, says “Ok babe, sounds good, give the phone to Kasey,” I get the phone back and Tyler says, “Yeah, run her by Jack in the Box and get her some tacos, then make her go to sleep. Do not let her talk you into going anywhere else tonight! This was typical Tyler. He was always so calm, cool, and understanding. Side note, I still don’t know how he understood what Linsey said that night.”

“I am so excited to be apart of the Tyler Timmins memorial foundation. Tyler is my cousin and I want to be a part of something great to remember him by.  I am excited to watch the foundation grow and help others. Tyler loved being a police officer. It was his passion and his calling. I want to honor and support his brothers and sisters in blue. I want them to know we love them, we are thankful for them and we appreciate them. I want to continuously honor Tyler’s legacy by helping others.
A little more about me I married my high school sweetheart. We’ve been together for 17 years. We have a 6 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. We own and operate a tree service named Riverbend Outdoor Services in Moro, IL. We’ve been in business for almost 15 years and it keeps us busy.”

FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“One of my favorite memories of Tyler was going ring shopping with him for Linsey’s engagement ring. She had been not so subtlety hinting she was ready for one. I was on him too and kept saying whenever you’re ready you just say the word. He finally sent the text, and we had a date! We had to be very strategic so Lins wouldn’t suspect anything. He knew what she wanted but he also knew what he wanted. He found the most beautiful ring and you couldn’t wipe the big cheesy grin from his face. I’ll never forget that day.”

LEARN MORE ABOUT DAWN...
Connection to the Foundation- Tyler and I worked together for the 18 months he was at Pontoon Beach PD and after his passing his wife Linsey and I have become very good friends. About me- I have an amazing husband, Matt, who has been my rock every single day. We have 2 daughters from previous marriages. Rileigh is 19 and finishing up Esthetician school soon. Mattie is 20 and finishing up her degree in machining. We have 1 girl together; her name is Paisley and she’s a 1 year old Golden Retriever. I just recently left the Law Enforcement community after 20 years as a Dispatcher and Administrative Assistant. Hopes for the foundation- Although I no longer work at PBPD or in the Law Enforcement community I have seen first hand how a loss like Tyler’s can affect a department, the community, family, friends and even strangers. My hope for the foundation is to be able to provide the people who experience the same kind of traumatizing loss the emotional and financial support they need. I believe the members of this foundation directly understand what it means to have others who have suffered the same kind of loss reach out a comforting hand and I know the depths of what we can all do together to honor Tyler is just beginning.
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“We had a mentally challenged adult that that came into the PD to speak to an Officer and was wearing a mask over his face and his forehead and was very reluctant to get close to or speak to anyone. Tyler was quick to volunteer to handle the call, but before he went out to the lobby, he also placed a mask over his face and forehead attempting to make the man feel comfortable talking with him. It worked and Tyler proceeded to talk to him for over an hour, with both masks on the entire time.”

“I am connected to the foundation due to being a coworker of Tylers for years when he worked at the Roxana Police Department. When Tyler was on shift and I was off he came by the house for dinner lots of nights. He really enjoyed hamburger helper as do I. I was a shift partner with Tyler and Vance Wilhelm when Tyler worked in Hartford and Vance worked in South Roxana. Working with Tyler was a hoot. He always found a way to keep us all laughing. I am a divorced father of three wonderful boys, Brennen, Ethan and Evan. I have worked as a Police Officer since 1999 after graduating from the Eastern Missouri Police Academy (class 3-98). My first Police job was in Hillsdale Missouri. I was hired by the Roxana Police Department in 2000 where I worked for 22 1/2 years. I lateral transferred to the Alton Police Department where I have been in Patrol for 2 years. I feel blessed to have been asked to be part of the Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation. I hope to help the foundation in supporting the needs of law enforcement and supporting other great organizations in our community.”
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“I really enjoyed how goofy Tyler was on and off duty. Tyler really was the same person wether working or off duty. I liked seeing how corney he could be. The photos of Tyler could really show his true colors. Tyler and I had a specific conversation about wanting to work at bigger/busier Police Departments. I encouraged him to follow his dream. Tyler took a job with the Pontoon Beach Police Department where he enjoyed doing the job. Then I realized I had not followed my own advice so I applied for Alton Police Department where I have enjoyed new experiences.”

“I am connected to the foundation through my brother-in-law, Tyler. He was such a great brother-in-law and I was thrilled to gain him as my “big brother” as I lost my older brother 17 years ago and T fit right in. I married Tyler’s only sibling, his younger brother, Jake, 5 years ago. We had the best day celebrating with T by our sides. Jake proposed with our dog, Gracie (he claims he needed a fool-proof plan with a diamond AND a dog…hey, it worked!), before we ventured into the land of human-parenthood. We now have two girls, Lennon (3) and Everly (2), named in memory of Tyler & Jake’s late Mother, Beverly. Jake and I met each other as we both work in the insurance industry. I currently work at a commercial insurance company, CNA Financial as the Branch Vice President. In this role, I am responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategic and operational tactics to drive growth and profitability for the Dallas, Oklahoma and Arkansas territories. My hopes for the foundation are to keep Tyler’s memory alive through giving back to others the way he did. Tyler had incredible patience and a selflessness about him that made him such a great person and police officer. While I always feared the high-risk nature of Tyler’s work, he loved what he did and I love this foundation can give others the opportunities to follow in Tyler’s footsteps, doing the very same. This foundation affords us the opportunity for many more people to know who Tyler was, even if it is long after he passed.”
FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...
“Tyler and I shared something Jake and I did not – the same taste in music and I loved nothing more than to jam out with T on the dance floor, singing some 2000s hip-hop, with neither of us missing a lyric. I have many memories of the two of us doing this and it immediately makes me smile.”

Lee Brousseau

VICE PRESIDENT

LEARN MORE ABOUT LEE...

I am connected to the foundation because of a close friendship I shared with Tyler. I first met Tyler when I became a police officer and worked for the South Roxana Police Department. He was working for the neighboring Roxana Police Department, and we often ran calls together. It didn’t take long for our friendship to develop due to his goofy, outgoing personality and larger than life smile.

I have a wonderful family, my wife, Amy; 2 boys and a girl, Jace 24, Nick 18, and Belle 15 as well as two boy dogs and one girl to match; Django, Theo and Lucy. I am currently employed as an Investigator for the Madison County States Attorney’s Office.

My hopes for the TTMF are to grow large enough to alleviate all of the financial stress and worries for the families of a fallen Police Officer in the State of Illinois. The last thing loved ones need to do after a tragic loss of their hero is to worry about any financial burden or emotional support.

FAVORITE TYLER MEMORY...

“One of my most memorable work memories with Tyler was when we were involved in a pursuit which led us from South Roxana, all over the freaking place and ended in Alton near the top of the Rock Quarry. The pursuit turned into a foot pursuit in the woods which ended with the suspect being taken into custody. Tyler never left my side during the entire pursuit/foot pursuit. Once in custody the suspect looked at us and said, “I’m Satan.” Tyler smiled and said, “Nice to meet you Satan, I’m Tyler.” I laughed so hard. We had countless laughs together on and off shift. There was never a moment spent with Tyler when he didn’t have me laughing, again, due to his goofy personality. The only time Tyler made me laugh that wasn’t fun was when he was spending time with me at the hospital after I was injured on duty, and I had multiple rib fractures. I so bad wanted to kick him but my external fixator would not allow me to do that. But I guess it’s the thought that counts, right?”
