The Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation (TTMF) is a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that focuses on the betterment of others and the community.
The Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created as a promise to our communities and first responders to continue in the work Tyler left behind, a promise we refuse to go unfulfilled.
Mission
Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created in memoriam of Officer Tyler Timmins who was killed in the line of duty on October 26th, 2021. Tyler dedicated his life to service both through police work as well as involving himself in several community outreach programs. Some of the main focal points in our organization are to develop and contribute to scholarships for first responder programs at local community colleges and universities, support community outreach programs and develop new programs of our own. Additionally, our goal is to provide financial and emotional support to first responder families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty in the state of Illinois. We honor Officer Timmins best, by continuing his calling and helping others.
Officer Tyler Timmins
End of Watch :: October 26th, 2021
Tyler Nathaniel Timmins was a dedicated, 36-year-old police officer serving with the Pontoon Beach Police Department when he was shot and killed in the line of duty. On October 26, 2021, at approximately 8:30am, Tyler responded to a local gas station where a suspected stolen vehicle was parked. Tyler exited his vehicle and was ambushed within seconds by the suspect, a repeat felonious perpetrator who fired from his unlawfully possessed firearm.
Tyler was a pillar for the communities in which he served and was a highly respected officer in the area. Tyler started his 14-year law enforcement career as a Cadet with the Wood River Police Department, and served as an officer in Roxana, Worden (Chief of Police), Hartford, and Pontoon Beach. Through his 14 years, Tyler was a certified Crisis Intervention Officer, Range Instructor, DARE Officer, and a member of ILEAS SWAT; to name a few. Tyler loved his community and was regularly involved in programs such as Shop with a Cop, Patches and Badges, and Mustache March 4PD; anything to bring together the community with first responders, or the betterment of others.
Above all things, Tyler enjoyed life and all that came with it. If you knew Tyler, you never saw him without a smile on his face so big it would close his eyes, a bounce in his step when he walked, or a quick one liner reserved to the first deserving person. He never took anything too seriously and was always able to see the good in any situation. Tyler met his wife, Linsey, in the summer of 2016 and they were married on September 11, 2021. Together they shared a life with their daughter Chloe and their two fur babies, Scooter and Wrigley. In his free time, Tyler was active in the Police Softball circuit, he enjoyed bowling, and was a dedicated sideline coach/cheerleader at his daughter’s soccer games. Tyler had a servant’s heart of gold, accompanied with humor and humility. He was more than a Police Officer. He was a cherished husband and father, a beloved son and brother, a respected teammate and leader, and a fiercely loyal friend.
The Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation was created as a promise to our communities and first responders to continue in the work Tyler left behind, a promise we refuse to go unfulfilled.

“I have a million memories with Tyler, but hands down my favorite memory with him was our wedding day. Absolutely nothing went wrong, it was perfect in every way possible. Specifically, sitting there with him at the head table, listening to Chloe’s speech for us. I had always known the bond those two shared was something special, but in that moment, it was solidified. As we watched the young woman we were raising, deliver such an amazing speech that was mature beyond her years, he kept hold of my hand and squeezed it tightly when he began to get choked up. Every moment of our lives with Tyler were special, every single one, and he made sure Chloe and I both knew daily how important we were to him and how much he loved us.”

“One of the most unique memories of Tyler was back when he was in high school, and I was in middle school. We both worked for the Wood River Parks and Recreation diamond crew, prepping the baseball and softball diamonds for play each day. On our lunch breaks, we often went to the Wood River Pool when it was hot. One time, we were going down the water slides and Tyler and a buddy went down in tandem, arms locked so they could push each other higher on the turns to gain more speed. One turn they were going too fast, and Tyler went up and over the slide. The other guy with him did not let go of his arm and Tyler dangled over the slide for a little while until they got to a spot where he could drop safely. He had fiberglass burns all up and down his arm and armpit area. While this certainly could have been much worse, we often laughed about this and how mad Mom and Dad were when they found out! It always reminds me of how fun and how much of a kid Tyler really was.”

“I am connected to the foundation due to Tyler being one of my best friends. Tyler and I met years ago when I started my internship with Roxana Police Department. We spent many nights riding around in his patrol vehicle harassing each other all the while he was teaching me things about law enforcement. I knew then I would have a lifelong friendship with Tyler due to how much fun and easy going he was. Throughout the years Tyler and I would check in and see how one another was doing. Finally in 2018, I had the privilege of working alongside Tyler. Tyler was working with Hartford Police Department and I was working at South Roxana Police Department. I could write a book about what a good time it was to work with Tyler. We had quite the crew for our working days. Lee Bazzell was working in Roxana and was on our shift rotation too. I knew when they both arrived at one of my calls I was going to have my hands full just because they loved escalating my calls and then would stand back and laugh while I would calm everything back down. Tyler and I came up with the big plan of going to bigger departments for more opportunities. We both succeeded when he went to Pontoon Beach Police Department, and I went to O’Fallon Police Department. We both enjoyed our fast cars and often took advantage of the nice days to cruise to Quiznos in Edwardsville. Our past could go on and on. I’ll be forever grateful for my friendship with Tyler.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Kristen for 10 years and we have a wonderful daughter named Saylor. I am currently an Officer with O’Fallon Police Department.
My hope and goal for the foundation is to continue its growth year after year. The foundation wants to be able to help families with financial need and be a source of emotional support for families in need. I want the foundation to be able to be involved in local events, fundraisers and scholarships. Tyler loved local events such as the Cops and Kids presented by Patches and Badges, and I want to keep being involved in his honor.”

“The memories and stories could go on for quite some time! My favorite memory would be more recent and involves his wedding day. I decided to contact my mom and asked her if I could borrow her wedding dress to give Tyler a good laugh during his first look. I wasn’t sure how it would go, but today I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I’ve made! It was worth every hard time everyone has given me. Haha! To see Tyler’s big grin and hear his response, followed up by a big hug made it worth it. I’ll forever hold that moment close to my heart because that was our friendship, goofy and always keeping each other on our toes.”

“I am connected to the foundation through my cousin Tyler. Tyler was about 8 months younger than me, and we were close growing up together. As adults we played in countless softball leagues together and a dart league for several years as well.
Tyler started his law enforcement career about 8 months after I did as well. We spent a lot of time during his years with the Hartford and Roxanna Police Departments, including our late night/early morning breakfasts at IHOP and backing each other up on calls for service.
I have been married to my wife, Jeni, for 40 or 50 years, I guess? We have two sons, Owen and Elliott, and our lives (this time of year especially) pretty much revolves around their sports schedules, and we love every second of it.
I have been an officer with the Woodriver Police Department for 16+ years and currently serve as a patrol sergeant. Against my wife’s better judgement, I recently opened a food truck with my friend Neil McHatton. Operating Mericue has been a lot of fun so far and we’re looking forward to the opportunities that it’ll bring.
I don’t really know what hopes I have for this foundation yet. I just hope we get to do some fun and silly stuff along the way, because that is what Tyler would’ve expected. “

“I am so excited to be apart of the Tyler Timmins memorial foundation. Tyler is my cousin and I want to be a part of something great to remember him by. I am excited to watch the foundation grow and help others. Tyler loved being a police officer. It was his passion and his calling. I want to honor and support his brothers and sisters in blue. I want them to know we love them, we are thankful for them and we appreciate them. I want to continuously honor Tyler’s legacy by helping others.
A little more about me I married my high school sweetheart. We’ve been together for 17 years. We have a 6 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. We own and operate a tree service named Riverbend Outdoor Services in Moro, IL. We’ve been in business for almost 15 years and it keeps us busy.”

I am connected to the foundation because of a close friendship I shared with Tyler. I first met Tyler when I became a police officer and worked for the South Roxana Police Department. He was working for the neighboring Roxana Police Department, and we often ran calls together. It didn’t take long for our friendship to develop due to his goofy, outgoing personality and larger than life smile.
I have a wonderful family, my wife, Amy; 2 boys and a girl, Jace 24, Nick 18, and Belle 15 as well as two boy dogs and one girl to match; Django, Theo and Lucy. I am currently employed as an Investigator for the Madison County States Attorney’s Office.
My hopes for the TTMF are to grow large enough to alleviate all of the financial stress and worries for the families of a fallen Police Officer in the State of Illinois. The last thing loved ones need to do after a tragic loss of their hero is to worry about any financial burden or emotional support.

“One of my most memorable work memories with Tyler was when we were involved in a pursuit which led us from South Roxana, all over the freaking place and ended in Alton near the top of the Rock Quarry. The pursuit turned into a foot pursuit in the woods which ended with the suspect being taken into custody. Tyler never left my side during the entire pursuit/foot pursuit. Once in custody the suspect looked at us and said, “I’m Satan.” Tyler smiled and said, “Nice to meet you Satan, I’m Tyler.” I laughed so hard. We had countless laughs together on and off shift. There was never a moment spent with Tyler when he didn’t have me laughing, again, due to his goofy personality. The only time Tyler made me laugh that wasn’t fun was when he was spending time with me at the hospital after I was injured on duty, and I had multiple rib fractures. I so bad wanted to kick him but my external fixator would not allow me to do that. But I guess it’s the thought that counts, right?”
